There is now a Dentrix Trojan Viewer 6.0 Component Update 2. If they client has this, it must be installed after the 6.0. It auto runs. You only have to click 'Yes' once. No news yet on what this actually does.

Uninstalling / Reinstalling the Trojan Viewer

Before you delete the Trojan folder, make sure the 6.0 install will start at the computer!!

This is actually a job for Dentrix digital support. If you want to do it, here are the instructions.

  1. Go to the office manager, Maintenance, Practice Setup, Preferences, Paths. Take note of the path on each line.

  2. Start -> Run. Type: dentrix.ini, <OK>. Find the trojpath highlight and delete that entire line, but only this line! File and save, file and exit. Won't save

  3. Start -> control panel, add/remove programs, find Dentrix Trojan viewer 6.0, highlight it, click change or remove. Are you sure <y> <OK>, close control panel

  4. Open My computer, open drive letter from step 1, go into dentrix folder (could be named something else, look for Trojan folder), rename the Trojan folder to Trojanold.

  5. Reinstall viewer, do a server install, “install to” always browse, click on drive, dentrix, then in the path line add \Trojan. <OK>  Message will appear that the Trojan folder does not exist do you want it created? <Y>

  6. Install new initial load (uncheck Also Update Plans in Dentrix) click

  7. Check other computers for the viewer and access to Trojan. If problems, check their paths in office manager.

If the Dentrix.ini won't allow you to save the changes, that is it keeps telling you to Save As....

  1. Go to c:\windows and look for the dentrix.ini file

  2. Rt click the dentrix.ini, then left click on properties

  3. Go to the Security tab

  4. Edit so that the Users have full control

  5. Save the changes

  6. Try again
